Setting Up the Kiosk

By the end of this guide, you'll have a branded lobby display running on a tablet, TV, or any device in your studio.

What You'll Need

  • A device for the lobby (tablet, laptop, or TV with a browser)
  • Your studio logo and optionally a background image (2560×1440 or larger recommended)

Step 1: Find Your Kiosk Link

  1. Go to Settings in the admin sidebar.
  2. Under Studio Info, you'll see your Kiosk Link. It looks like:
    tattooqueue.io/s/your-studio-name
  3. Click the link to preview it, or copy it to open on another device.

This is the URL clients will use to check in. You can also change the slug (the part after /s/) from the settings page — but note that changing it will break any existing QR codes or bookmarks.

Step 2: Upload a Background Image

  1. Still on the Settings page, scroll to Kiosk Background.
  2. Click Upload Image and select a high-resolution image (2560×1440 or larger works best on large screens).
  3. You'll see a live preview in the 16:9 landscape frame.
  4. Click Save.

Alternatively, you can set a solid background color instead of an image using the color picker.

Step 3: Set Up the Lobby Device

Open your kiosk link on whatever device you want in the lobby:

  • Tablet (recommended): Open the link in the browser and use "Add to Home Screen" for a full-screen experience.
  • TV/Monitor: Use a Chromecast, Fire Stick, or any device with a web browser. Open the kiosk URL and leave it running.
  • Laptop: Open the link and press F11 for full-screen mode.

Step 4: Share the Check-In Link

Clients can check in from their own phone instead of a shared tablet. The kiosk screen includes a QR code in the bottom corner that clients can scan to open the check-in flow on their device.

You can also:

  • Print the QR code and post it at the front desk
  • Add the kiosk link to your website or social media bio
  • Text the link to clients when they arrive

What Clients See

The kiosk lobby screen shows:

  • Your studio logo and name
  • "In the Queue" — a scrolling list of clients waiting
  • "Now Tattooing" — clients currently being worked on, with the artist name and station
  • "Meet the Artists" — a carousel of your artist roster with photos and styles
  • A large Check In button

When an artist claims a client, the kiosk shows a celebration notification with the client's name, the artist, and the estimated wait time.

Troubleshooting

  • Background image looks blurry? Use a higher resolution image. We recommend at least 2560×1440 pixels.
  • Kiosk not updating in real-time? Make sure the device has a stable internet connection. The kiosk uses live updates with a 5-second fallback refresh.
  • Want to hide the QR code? The QR code is always visible on the kiosk — it's the easiest way for clients to check in from their own phone.
